General Info

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

  • Upon entry into the Studio, please leave your shoes on the shoe rack. We would appreciate it if you could walk around the Studio without shoes. Dance shoes whilst in the mat studio are permitted.
  • For hygiene purposes, socks are compulsory when exercising on the equipment and mats. If you forget to bring your socks, you are required to purchase them from the Studio.
  • Children below the age of 12 are not allowed in the equipment studio, except as clients. Food and drinks (non-plain water) are only allowed at waiting area.
  • Only plain drinking water in a bottle with lid is allowed in all studio workout areas. Chewing gum is strictly not allowed in all areas of the Studio.
  • Your body temperature rises during Pilates and as such, intensifies the use of fragrances. For the benefit of other clients, kindly refrain from using perfume.
  • The Studio is not liable for any loss or damage to clients’ belongings whilst they are in the Studio.
  • Kindly leave your mobile phones on “silent” mode while sessions are in progress. If a call is urgent, please take it outside.
  • All sessions and packages purchased are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • As the International Licensed Training Center for STOTT PILATES® Instructor Certification, we support the students by providing
    opportunity to observe live teaching classes in the studio. Students are to first get your prior permission / via the Trainer (except for group class).

Session Booking & Cancellation Policies

General Info

  • All sessions are strictly by appointment only. Walk-ins are not allowed.
  • Please note that sessions must be pre-paid. If you have not made payment for your first session of new package, the particular next session will not be confirmed, and the studio reserves the right to replace your slot with another client. Cancellation and replacement policies strictly apply.
  • Please remember your scheduled sessions, as the Studio will not make reminder calls.
  • Due to the Studio’s tight schedule, clients who arrive late may not be given extra time. We encourage clients to arrive at least 5 minutes before their scheduled session.
  • Every session with late attendance exceeding 15mins of scheduled appointment will be considered charged. In group class, the instructor reserves the right to reject your participation as you have missed out the sufficient warm-up to keep the workout programmed to be safe and effective for you, also as a respect for other participants in the group class to avoid interruption of workout flow.
  • If a client wishes to suspend their sessions, submission of the “Client Suspension Form” is required. The Studio will hold the session(s) only until the indicated date. Failure to notify the studio of any changes will result in a forfeiture of the session(s).
  • If a client wishes to cancel a scheduled session, a notice period of at least 24 hours must be given, failing which, that session will be charged. All medical emergencies would require a submission of a valid medical certificate, failure which the session will be charged.
  • WhatsApp reminders are sent on a courtesy basis by the studio without serving as a final confirmation of your session. If you did not receive the reminder the day before your session, you are responsible to confirm with the studio if you are unsure of your appointment. The studio will not be held liable for any technical malfunction of telecommunication company services nor for not sending any reminder to you.
  • Please note that the replacement session must be scheduled within the same week or the period of expiration for promotion packages: no further extensions will be granted.
  • Replacement sessions are subject to Trainer’s availability. The Studio will allocate mutually agreeable time slots.
  • Sessions are strictly non-transferable.
  • The studio reserves the right to assign instructors for your sessions. In the event your regular instructor discontinues their service with the studio, an alternative instructor will be assigned to complete your remaining sessions. Should you choose not continue training with the studio, the balance of your package(s) will be non-refundable.

SESSION

Instructor Course & Workshop Policies

STOTT PILATES® COURSE & WORKSHOPS
REGISTRATION POLICIES

  • The Merrithew™ STOTT PILATES® Instructor Certification Courses are not catered for pregnant participants (unless specified) for safety and well-being of both mother and foetus. We are unable to accept registration of pregnant applicants.
  • Course registrations are not accepted from currently or recently injured. Participants must be injury-free and fully capable of engaging in the significant physical component of the courses to meet the requirements.
  • It is a strict requirement for full attendance for every Merrithew™ STOTT PILATES® course / workshop / training session. Please be ready to commit to every hour scheduled. Each absent hour in minutes requires make-up hour to be arranged and completed at separate fees in order to be deemed completing each course / workshop officially and receive the official Merrithew Letter of Attendance.
  • No time can be missed during any foundation course and workshop; Online Anatomy Review Workshop, Postural Analysis Workshop etc. If a student misses any time, then the workshop must be re-taken.
  • Course & workshop admission is upon approval of the Education Team.Enrolment for any Level 1 Intensive courses is only confirmed upon movement assessment review by Instructor Trainer. Students will be advised to defer if they do not meet the safety requirement required in performing exercises or have not met with the minimum Pilates hours.
  • Space is limited to 12 participants for courses and 18 participants for workshops.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
STOTT PILATES® COURSE & WORKSHOPS

  • To confirm registration in a Merrithew™ STOTT PILATES® course or workshops, a 20% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is due at time of enrolment (not applicable for course promo or limited slots). Final payment is due four (4) weeks before course begins or earlier (due to limited slots) in order to confirm and secure a slot. Failure to submit full payment may result in forfeiting your spot in the course/workshop.
  • Full course payment is required for course bundle promo.
  • Students enrolling in any course bundles (course fee consisting of more than one course, i.e. Intensive Mat-Plus and Intensive Reformer) must register in all courses at time of enrolment, and courses must be completed within 9 months of the first course taken; or 12 months for Full Comprehensive and Full Intensive Level 1 course bundles.
  • As a pre-requisite for IMP & IR, students are required to attend Anatomy Review or Functional Anatomy first, followed by Postural Analysis Review Workshop. If one has undergone other Anatomy related courses or workshops, they may appeal for exemption with a letter of completion or certificate. There are no exemptions for the Postural Analysis Review workshop as it is an integral component in both course content and exam prep.

STUDENT CANCELLATION OR CHANGE POLICIES

Private Education Session – Review, Reinstatement, MOCK exam 

  1. Private education sessions (e.g. review, etc.) can be cancelled or re-scheduled with more than twenty-four hours’ notice, based participant will be charged for the full session fee.

Courses & Workshops Policies

  1. Less than 4 weeks prior to the start date, no refunds are permitted.
  2. When it is more than 4 weeks prior to the start date, 20% of the course fee + admin & finance fee + SST (MY courses) will be forfeited towards cancellation fee.
  3. Once any Merrithew course, course bundle (consisting of more than one course), or workshop(s) has commenced, no refunds are permitted.
  4. Request for amendment of course/workshop intake enrollment in less than 4 weeks from the enrolled course start date, it is subject to 20% (+ tax) of course / workshop fees as change fee per course / workshop.
  5. Upgrades to course bundles are available within the first 3 weeks of the first course. Any additional fees associated with the upgrade must be paid in full within 5 days of the request date. Enrollment in any courses beyond the 3-week deadline will be subject to individual course fee.
  6. If the student does not complete all courses within 9 months from the first course taken (12 months for Full Comprehensive and Full Intensive Level 1 course bundles), the remaining course / workshop fees are forfeited.

Examination Policies

  1. To confirm examination appointment, please ensure payment is made 90 days ahead of scheduled exam appointment with exam coordinator.
  2. Within 90 days from the confirmed exam appointment, exams can be cancelled or re-scheduled with a SGD100.00 / RM350.00 (+tax) exam change fee. In the event of a second cancellation or re-scheduling of the exams, the full exam fee will be charged again.
  3. In cases of political unrest, natural disasters, medical emergencies, bereavement, terrorism, labour strikes, transportation disruptions, etc., full registration refunds are not our responsibility and cancellation policies applies.
  4. Please be advised, we reserve the right to cancel courses and workshops up to 3 weeks prior to the scheduled start date if sufficient enrollment has not been met. In this event, students will have the option of enrolling into the next available course/workshop or receiving a full refund.
  5. Prices are subject to change without notice. Fees for courses and workshops do not include required course materials or applicable taxes unless stated.
  6. All fees for courses, workshops & materials (manuals + digital videos) are non-refundable and non-transferable. 7.Pilatique reserves the right to amend this policy to supersede previous version without prior notice.

Manjari Vanehunathan

Certified Instructor and Physiotherapist (Part-Time)

Manjari, a qualified physiotherapist and health enthusiast, obtained her Honors Degree in Physiotherapy in 2017. Her inclination towards sports and fitness since high school; a taekwondo practitioner as well as a long distance runner, has steered her to choosing physiotherapy to expand her passion. As she was embarking on a journey of developing her present skills and knowledge as a fresh graduate, Manjari found her calling in pilates with Pilatique. She decided to ‘strike the hot iron’ hoping to guide others in realising their fitness related goals as well as overcoming musculoskeletal injuries with restoring optimal movement. As Manjari completed her Level 1 certification of Intensive Mat-Plus, Intensive Reformer and Intensive Cadillac, Chair & Ladder Barrel, she was able to fully embrace the notion of the importance of having a connection between mind and body during exercises to create proper balance and control throughout the body. 

After practicing Pilates more than a year, Manjari decided to hone her skills further by completing the Rehab Matwork & Reformer certification, as rehabilitation is her ultimate passion. She understands that Rehab Pilates exercises provides the effective bridge between the worlds of therapeutic exercises and fitness conditioning. She have learned hundreds of exercises and modifications which is used throughout the rehabilitation process, from the acute stages to functional integration, ongoing maintenance and performance enhancement. Pilates has become her nature and the simplest way of life for Manjari, and she believes that everybody should reap the benefits out of it thus making it her aim to guide each of her clients towards the path of recovery and wholesome living.

Gretel Lee

Instructor Trainer and Certified Instructor

Gretel is an avid movement practitioner formally trained in Classical Ballet, Barre, Yoga, and Pilates. She’s grown up as a dancer dabbling in genres including Tango, Jazz, Latin, and Contemporary dance. Having been exposed to a variety of movement and fitness genres over the last 20 years has piqued her interest in the biomechanics of movement and has eventually led her to this point as a Pilates practitioner, instructor, and most recently in 2024, a STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer. 

She started her teaching journey in 2013 as a dance teacher, then transitioned to a Barre instructor and training manager in 2017. Gretel has worked with a variety of age groups and clientele, including pre and post-natal mothers. She is passionate about empowering clients to understand their bodies better through mindful movement. 

In her role as a STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer and movement educator, she endeavours to nurture aspiring Pilates instructors and bring them up to the next level. 

Gretel believes in the joy that movement brings and hopes to share this with clients in her classes and anyone keen to further their knowledge in their Pilates journey.

Vijitha Sivanjanam

Certified Instructor and Physiotherapist

Vijitha is a physiotherapist who’s had a special interest in learning different styles of movements and how that can compliment the rehab journey of her patients/clients. 

She’s grown up playing basketball, badminton, dodgeball and a few other sports which sparked her interest in treating sports related injuries. 

Pilates being grounded in mind-body awareness and being a sport which is low impact, she knew it was the best choice for her to explore this to enhance her skills as a physiotherapist. 

She began her journey as a physiotherapist in 2018, working in a private medical centre which gave her the opportunity to see a variety of medical conditions and be a part of their journey from as early as post surgery until they are back to sports. She has had the chance to work across multiple disciplines including neurology, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, women’s health and vestibular rehabilitation. 

She’s taken a special interest in catering for women’s health and dove into pilates in 2023. 

She’s now fully Level 1  certified in STOTT Pilates.

In her role as a pilates instructor and physiotherapist, she’s focused on working with her clients not just through the absence of pain in movement, she’s determined to get clients to move freely with confidence in challenging environments. 

She stands strong in believing that movement is medicine for life and spreads the message loud and clear in all of her sessions.

Fong Yen Li

Certified Instructor and Physiotherapist

With a background as a qualified physiotherapist and a Level 1 Full STOTT Pilates Certified Instructor, she is passionate about exploring the many ways the body can move, adapt, and heal. Her movement journey extends beyond Pilates, embracing barre, Animal Flow, strength training, and most recently, running—with the goal of completing a marathon one day. She believes balance is the foundation of a strong, resilient body, and that movement should be both empowering and sustainable.

Since beginning her teaching journey in 2023, she has worked with a diverse range of clients—from children and older adults to those recovering from injuries or navigating special conditions such as prenatal and postnatal stages or scoliosis. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that movement is medicine. She aims to help every client move with confidence, curiosity, and trust in their body, encouraging them to embrace movement as a path toward strength, longevity, and overall well-being. She believes that every body is equal, and that good things take time.

Currently, she focuses on combining her physiotherapy expertise with mindful movement to create safe, effective, and purposeful sessions tailored to each individual. She is particularly passionate about strength building, postural health, and injury prevention, helping clients develop lasting movement habits that support them through every stage of life. Her mission is to inspire others to find joy, balance, and moving confidently in their body everyday 

Cherry Lim

Senior Instructor and Physiotherapist

Cherry is a Level 2 Full STOTT Pilates–certified instructor and a qualified physiotherapist with a strong foundation in movement science. Her personal journey spans bodybuilding, strength training, and Animal Flow, having competed as a bikini bodybuilder for the past two years. These diverse experiences shape her teaching approach—one that blends precision, strength, and mindful, purposeful movement.

Since she began teaching in 2022, Cherry has developed a deep passion for guiding clients to explore their fullest physical potential. She believes that movement is the key to recovery, and building muscle is essential for long-term sustainability and longevity. Central to her philosophy is the importance of connecting mind and muscle, empowering individuals to move with intention, overcome fear of movement, and appreciate that all meaningful progress takes time.

Current Role & Focus

Cherry works extensively with clients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries and supports individuals with neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s disease. She also coaches clients returning to strength training or rebuilding foundational fitness. She teaches clients across all age groups, emphasising strength, resilience, and confidence through structured, progressive, and mindful movement.

Lohshini Manickavasagam

Education Coordinator and Certified Instructors

Lohshini is a BSc (Hons) graduate in Physiotherapy Sciences with over 11 years of experience in early childhood development. In her pursuit of physiotherapy, she discovered a new passion for pilates, a journey that has proven to be both rewarding and transformative.

Having grown up with asthma, Lohshini initially shied away from anything physically strenuous, including fitness activities. However, she found pilates to be a healthy escape from her previously sedentary lifestyle. The instant psychological and physical benefits she experienced—improved body posture, alignment, and a sense of mental ease—sparked a deeper commitment to this discipline.

Since joining Pilatique in 2018, Lohshini has furthered her passion for pilates and is now the Education Coordinator and Assistant Manager in Malaysia. She is a certified STOTT PILATES instructor for both Matwork and Reformer and uses her experience to help budding students with their STOTT PILATES certification journey, offering her guidance and support every step of the way.

Lee Wei Vern

Instructor Trainer and Senior Physiotherapist

Wei Vern kick-started her STOTT PILATES® training upon joining Pilatique Pilates & Physiotherapy studio in Malaysia in 2018 after completing her degree in Physiotherapy. An ardent believer in active rehabilitation and holistic wellness, she has been helping clients achieve their goals to be pain free through incorporating STOTT PILATES methods into her treatment approach. This fueled her further to complete her full certification in 2021 and eventually becoming a MERRITHEW® Instructor trainer specializing in Matwork, Reformer & Cadillac, Chair & Barrels.

Melissa Wong

Pilatique Co-Founder and Education Director

Wong, STOTT PILATES® Lead Instructor Trainer, is the co-founder of Pilatique Pilates & Phsyiotherapy Studio and has always been a fitness enthusiast. She started her career in the fitness arena in 2000 as a part- time fitness instructor teaching in various gyms. She transitioned into a full-time fitness career after graduating from university with a Bachelor of Business Studies.

Mel, as she is better known, is very passionate in dance and this very passion has led her to many endeavours. In 2003, having discovered that Pilates complemented her dance performances, Mel’s passion for Pilates started to grow as she sees how it can help to strengthen her and other individuals as well. She then attended a basic training program held by one of Kuala Lumpur’s pioneer Pilates studio and started teaching Mat Pilates soon thereafter.

An opportunity arose in 2004 and Mel underwent STOTT PILATES® Mat and Reformer training, and continued her journey as a certified STOTT PILATES® Trainer until today, and will be forever, as she foresees. Mel co-founded Pilatique Pilates Studio in 2005 with her husband, Steven. She continued and progressively attended the full series of STOTT PILATES® courses both in Malaysia and Canada. She achieved STOTT PILATES® Full Certification Instructor in 2008 and moved on to be a STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer in that same year.

Besides Pilates, Mel is also the first Head Teacher for Les Mill’s dance program, BodyJam, for Fitness First Malaysia. Fitness first is the world’s largest privately owned health club group. Mel was appointed a presenter for the Les Mills Quarterly Workshops.

Since 2006, Mel has had the honour to work with Nike as a chosen Master Trainer for Nike Rockstar Workout, which has given her the opportunity to represent Team Malaysia in Singapore and Japan. In 2007, Mel again trained instructors for the Nike Rockstar Workout program in Thailand. In 2009 and 2010, Mel has been selected to present in STOTT PILATES® workshops for Asia Fitness Convention in Bangkok, Thailand. 

 

Pilatique Pilates Studio proudly became a MERRITHEW® Licensed Training Center in 2008. Mel will continuously be upgrading her personal knowledge and development to train and groom more Certified STOTT PILATES® Trainers that are seriously lacking in the local industry and also worldwide. She has, and will always be dedicated and committed to Pilates by giving the best of her to Pilatique’s students, clients and beyond.

She is known for breaking down content well and making it easy to understand and to apply in teaching. With all her skills and passion for teaching, she has helped many instructors in becoming successful instructors. Melissa has also been appointed as a Member of Talent Advisory Panel of The People’s Association of Singapore, where she supports in bringing up the standard of Pilates instructors in the communities.
